The man has had a significant impact in many, many areas of life, which is more than most have. That’s why it seems like many people who are obsessed with this man’s genius take a particular interest in the number one quality that we think he has – Elon Musk’s IQ.
We’re not necessarily the first people to do this; a number of people have thought about what an Elon Musks’ IQ would be and have given their own estimations.
However, we’re confident in our approach to estimating the man’s IQ – we put effort into looking at evidence and reasoning behind the numbers.
We also take into account the fact that there is a possibility that those numbers may change over time, as Elon Musk’s mind and body age.
On top of all of that, we’ve also gone through some of the most common estimates of Elon Musk’s IQ and created our own rankings of the top 10.
What we found was that the IQ of Elon Musk is probably a little higher than the typical person’s IQ, but still far below that of Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking.

For the sake of fairness, and to avoid putting in a bunch of numbers, we’re not going to take on all the evidence around Musk’s IQ.
Instead, we’re going to stick to more specific pieces of evidence and we’re also going to have a more in-depth look at what each piece of evidence means.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a more intelligent person than Elon Musk.
We’ve found five pieces of evidence that all point towards a higher IQ than the typical person.
Elon Musk is also extremely hard-working, and it shows
As Musk himself once said, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
Now it would be fair to say that he’s just being an ass, but his hard work shows.
In his case, hard work is showing through in the form of the SpaceX rockets which his company is launching and successfully landing, and the Tesla cars which are doing well at the top of the field.
As for his personal life, he’s had a history of being very hard working.
As we mentioned before, we’re not including all the evidence around Musk’s IQ. So we’re going to focus on the five pieces of evidence that we found.
In the next section, we’re going to have a look at each of these pieces of evidence and what it means.
Elon Musk has been working on his intelligence for a while now
To start off, here’s an extract from Elon Musk’s biography of himself:
I grew up in South Africa and I left South Africa in the fifth grade because I wanted to go to school in America. I went to the eighth grade in the United States and I was one of only two in my class who could read and write English.
I then did the equivalent of high school in Los Angeles and also did college at the University of Pennsylvania and earned a BA degree in physics and economics.
I then worked on Wall Street, did some start-up things with my college roommate, Mark, and I got divorced and I met my wife through mutual friends. I then did an MBA from the Wharton School and started X.com, and I basically lived in my garage for six years.
As you can see, he was always very smart, starting with an impressive IQ of 158. In high school, his grades were A’s, so that was a step up. After high school, he became fluent in English.
After he dropped out of college and tried Wall Street, he was able to do two things that show he was intelligent. He was good at negotiating with companies, and his ability to learn is amazing, as most of his life has been spent learning new things. He did not stop going to school in his spare time, or even in between jobs.
After his divorce, he was able to get his engineering degree, because he had a knack for picking the right people to help him. His first wife, Talulah Rana, was an engineer in one of the firms he started. She introduced him to his second wife, Justine. Musk was always going to college to learn more about technology.
What made him decide to leave Wall Street and his job with HP? It’s not exactly clear, but the closest thing is in a video where he discusses his decision to leave a company called e-Prize when he was talking about the future:
“This guy, he works at HP, it’s the most incredible software company ever. We’ve got to get this guy out of there, just give him a new idea and he’ll do it. He’s going to be a billion-dollar company before he knows it. He has this idea, a laser beam that will allow you to download data to a laptop.”
I can see the future in that statement, he saw it, he believed it, and now it’s in his hands. He has ideas like that all the time, it’s just a matter of him executing them, which he’s done a good job at.
I’m sure he could have gone to any company that might have hired him, but I think he needed the challenge, and Tesla was what he needed. The company needed to be in high school to do great things, and he’s proved he knows how to do it.
Another thing that sets him apart from other billionaires is he has his eye on the future, not just for himself, but for humanity. He has a strong moral conscience, and it’s reflected in what he does. He’s a great leader, and he’s just one of the good guys.
He’s a guy you want to put money in, not just because he’s going to make you some money, but because he’s a good person to know.
When you see someone who’s in the right place, doing the right thing, you want to help, and he’s like that. The more we do business with him, the more we help the environment, and the more we help Tesla do better.
So you should be happy to own Tesla, and you should be happy to be a part of Tesla’s success. He’s worth so much more, and you’re helping him get that value. He’s worth more than a billion dollars, even more than Facebook. He’s a great guy, and he’s just getting started.
